Instigator
Shahram Entekhabi's 2021 video work Instigator is a thought-provoking exploration of the history and beliefs of the Middle East while also considering its current geopolitical conditions. The protagonist, played by Ghazaleh Seidabadi, is a woman who challenges traditional frameworks and regional worldviews and goes beyond defined utopias. Through a range of different situations, she transcends the constraints imposed by society and transcends reactionism and patriarchal systems.
The video draws attention to women's rights and their demand for participation in society in Iran, which has coincided with women's liberation movements around the world. Despite her best efforts, these feminist movements have not become a continuum due to a lack of community support, leading to the protagonist breaking the siege by sacrificing one of the one-eyed beings and disappearing into the darkness.
The issues addressed in Instigator are not limited to women and affect all human beings, including the loss of nature and its consequences. The video explores contemporary issues and offers a narrative of Iranian women caught between the bonds of the past and today's definition of a woman in the free world.
According to Entekhabi, the focus of the video is on the identity crisis or schizophrenia, the paradox or duality that has arisen in the virtual world. These mental conflicts of modern humans have much in common with the beliefs and superstitions of primitive humans, except that the original beliefs were based on observations, conditions, the environment, and regional culture, and were transmitted orally among humans. Today, however, supercorporations and tech giants have direct control over the design, planning, and implementation of these beliefs, raising questions about modern humans' ability to think and dream independently and creatively.

روایت یک "گذرنده" است که دوره های تاریخی را پشت سر می گذارد. او که نه اعتقادی به آرمانشهر های تعریف شده دارد و نه در رویای بازگشت به گذشته است با پشت سرگذاشتن چهارچوب های سنتی و جهان بینی های منطقه ای به سوی "فرا آرمانشهر" می رود. قهرمان اینجا نه تنها ارتجاع را پشت سر می گذارد و بر پاتریارش ها غلبه می کند بلکه ما را با جهانی رو به رو می کند که رو به نابودی ست. قسمت های از ویدئو که با طنز به مسائل روز اشاره می کند هرکدام نشانگر دورانی هستند که شخصیت اصلی از آنها عبور می کند. برخی از مسائلی که در این ویدئو مطرح شده است نه تنها زنان بلکه زندگی تمام انسان ها را تحت تاثیر قرار می دهد؛ برای مثال از دست رفتن طبیعت، عواقب ناشی از آن و دیگر بجران هایی که انسان امروز با آن ها درگیر است
ویدئوی "آتش افروز" نگاهی به تاریخ و داستان باور ها و خرافات دارد. ویدئوی «آتش افروز» به زندگی " زن" در خاورمیانه، با در نظر گرفتن شرایط ژئوپولتیک آن، می پردازد. خاورمیانه یکی از اولین مناطق شکل گیری تمدن، فرهنگ، مذاهب و ادیان بوده؛ جایگاه زن در این جغرافیا با وجود تحولات زیادش در قرون گذشته بسیار بحث برانگیز بوده است. این جایگاه مانند سایر مناطق جهان چهارچوب مشخصی دارد اما زن همیشه در این منطقه"دیگری" بوده و این روند کماکان ادامه دارد
محور اصلی ویدئوی "آتش افروز" مشکلاتی ست که جامعه ی امروز با آن مواجه است؛ بحران هویتی یا یک شیزوفرنی، پارادوکس یا دوگانگی ، که به خصوص در دنیای مجازی تبلور یافته است. در نظر هنرمند شهرام انتخابی این درگیری های ذهنی انسان مدرن، با خرافات و باور های انسان اولیه شباهت زیادی دارد؛ با این تفاوت که باور های اولیه بر اساس مشاهدات و شرایط ، محیط و فرهنگ منطقه ای شکل گرفته و در تاریخ شفاهی میان مردم حفظ شده است اما امروز ابرشرکت ها و غول های فناوری بر طراحی، برنامه ریزی و شکل گیری آن ها کنترل مستقیم دارند. جدا از جوانب سیاسی-اقتصادی این موضوع نکته ی قابل تأمل این است که انسان امروزی تا چه حد می تواند مستقل و خلاقانه ایده پردازی کند و رویا داشته باشد؟ با توجه به این امر که ما به سمت "انسان شیشه ای" شدن حرکت می کنیم، درگیری با دنیای مجازی و تقریبا در آن زندگی کردن خطری ست که ما و نسل های آینده را تهدید می کند
