Los Conquistadores, 2005, video Pal, 03:00 min, color, sound
Series of 32 photographs, 60 x 40 cm each

Each year more than 1.5 Million of tourists from the North Europa visit the Island of Tenerife - a part of the Canaries. At the same time, a large number of refugees from Morocco and from Ghana, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Mali tries to get over the 140 kilometers from the Atlantic coast of Morroco to the island. Many refugees drown during this attempt to reach European territory.
The invasion of tourists to the Island of Tenerife and the South-to-North-migration are happening at the same time. But the often tragic fate of the refugees remains almost invisible whereas the Northern invaders also visually penetrate the island.
